Psalm 125
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people
both now and forevermore.
This is obviously before the exile when God actually let "Zion" come down. He let it be destroyed because of their rock hard hearts.
The pride of these words are interesting to look at now in hindsight. It was the belief that they were incredibly "in" God's will that they could do no wrong. The pharisees felt similar.
I'm a missionary living on faith, obviously I'm in the "cool/in" crowd right?
I am glad to be in God's people. Heaven forbid that I stop examining my heart to ensure that it stays that way. The heart is deceitful, unmasterable according to Jeremiah.
Thank you Jesus that I have a Spirit in me that I can ask for help when it needs to be mastered. That you won't stop.
And that there is grace for the times when I do stop.
