Pslam 137

How can we sing the songs of the Lord
    while in a foreign land?
If I forget you, Jerusalem,
may my right hand forget its skill.
May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
if I do not remember you,
if I do not consider Jerusalem
    my highest joy.

Exile. Maybe this weird place in time feels like exile.

Here it seems we're told to look back on the memories of normal life and remember them... or else.

I mean I don't wanna compare suffering, but if the Israelites can find a way to praise God in the midst of their actual terrible exile. Maybe... we can too.

Exile looks different for everyone, but it doesn't change God's nature.

And yes I'm quoting this in context, because if God had a plan for the Israelites, then the promise is He has one for us too.

" This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”
