Statement from Evan Peters, YFCHL Director (YFC Hockey League)
“It is with sadness, heartbreak and utter devastation we are mourning the loss of one of our players.
Robin Godfrey was the most hilarious ball of energy we've had at YFCHL in many years. This quirky hardworking student was willing to play anywhere and was a beloved team member by so many. Affectionately known to us as "skittles" he literally walked everywhere with a bounce in his step.
We are sad as a community as we learn to cope with this loss, but we are so happy for the many memory this hilarious student left with us over the 5 years we were blessed to have him with us.
We love you Robin. We miss you. Wish we had you around so much longer.
Boot camp will be all for you this year.
We'll all have a pack of skittles in your honour.”
These are moments that remind us why we do what we do, and how crucial the ministry of YFC Saskatoon is. Life is so uncertain, and while we have the honour of walking with these students, whether a long or short time, we are committed to offering belonging and bringing the HOPE of Jesus to these kids.
