Time Goes Fast

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve been enjoying the video updates from the last couple of days… the girls had a lot of fun doing the blog takeover. It is Wednesday night and we are heading into our last full day in Belize… which is incredibly hard to believe.

As you saw in the video, yesterday we were at a Kids Club in a little village in Unitedville, which is about 40 min. away from our YWAM base. It is such a fun little spot, and all the village kids showed up to see what we had planned for them. The kids there are awesome… super full of energy and ready to play, but also very respectful and eager to jump into any activity. Some of our girls lead a few camp songs with them and the kids loved it so much and sang their little hearts out. The whole team put together a skit that acted out the Bible story of Jonah and the whale. We had a lot of fun putting it together, and the kids thought it was hilarious. We had a few people from our team share a bit of their story with the kids, and they did an amazing job. We were only there for a few hours but we truly felt like we made new friends and we were sad to go when it was over.

Today we took the day off and got up really early to head out to the Cayes (the islands) for a day of snorkelling and exploring! It is awesome to see the touristy part of Belize, which is vastly different than what we have experienced here so far. We went to the island of Caye Caulker, which is postcard perfect with a very laid back feel. We hit up a couple of snorkelling spots and saw amazing coral and fish, as well as a couple of dozen sting rays and some sharks! It was incredible to swim around with them and it is a memory we will have forever. After the snorkelling we spent a few hours on the island sipping iced coffees and eating from street vendors. It was so relaxing and fun, and a nice break from the hard work.

Tonight we shared with the team some encouragement and messages from back home. It was a really awesome reminder of how lucky we are to have the family and friends that we do. We definitely have a different perspective now… having spent a week with some amazing kids who do not necessarily have the same family foundations that we do. It is such a good reminder of who we have waiting for us at home and how truly truly blessed we are to be so loved.

It is so hard to believe, but tomorrow is our last full day in Belize. We are heading back to the home for our last day on the work site and with the kids. We will have to say some tough goodbyes, and we aren’t looking forward to it. On Friday afternoon we are flying to Calgary for the weekend to have a team debrief time, and we arrive home on Monday afternoon.

Please Pray:

-for our hearts tomorrow as we say goodbye to some kids that we have fallen in love with and who have changed us forever.

-for strength and energy as we have one more day of work

-that God would continue to work in our hearts and prepare us for a great time of debrief this weekend.

We have been reading all the comments to the team and they love hearing from you, so thanks for checking in! We appreciate the love so much!
