Hi everyone! I am sitting here writing as the team is enjoying their letters from home! Thank you to everyone who took the time to write a note to the team. They are loving the love and encouragement... and some tears are being shed. We are a little over half way through our trip, and it is great to have a reminder of how much we are loved by our friends and family back home. We also sat and watched the videos from the parents together as a group. It was so super fun to get a glimpse into each other's home life and see some familiar faces! Thank you parents for being loving, supportive, and a perfect amount of embarrassing. We had so much fun watching your efforts.
In other GREAT news.... we have finished our work project!!!!! We had an INCREDIBLE day at the work site today! It's hard to even sum up. The team was beyond pumped to get to work today and finally pour the concrete roof. We arrived right on time and they got to work right away. Corwin is putting together a video so you can see the process... but it was true team work from start to finish. Everyone got in a rhythm, and loved their jobs. There was so much laughing and joy as they worked. It was super amazing to watch. There is a man from the States working closely with us all week, and he made many comments to me today about how this is the best team he's ever worked with. He was completely amazed at not only the team's work ethic, but their amazing attitudes and their ability to get the job done right. We went into today hoping to complete the pour by the end of the day... and instead the team decided to push through lunch and they finished the pour at 1:00! It only took them four hours to pour A LOT of concrete. The team truly was a blessing to the local crew and the rest of the staff today. I heard so many comments from "mom" Leonie, and the rest of the volunteers about how happy they felt to have such awesome and happy young people around working so hard. BE PROUD of these kids! They could not have done better today.
Since we finished up early, we were able to take a much appreciate Cholis break (an iced coffee drink) and then we headed back to the home for our second last hang out with the kids. Saying goodbye tonight was hard to do, and I know that everyone was thinking about having to say our final goodbyes on Friday. It was not easy to get the team out the front doors and into the van tonight. And I know it will be a million times harder on Friday. The reality of leaving this great place is staring us in the face, and we are trying our best to soak in every minute.
Tomorrow is our day off and we will be heading out to the Cayes for some fantastic snorkelling! It will be an amazing, beautiful, sun burnt kind of day I'm sure!
Prayer Answers and Requests:
-Izzy's ankle is still doing well. It's not quite back to 100%, but he is doing so much better. Thanks for praying! I truly believe that it is because of your prayers that he has healed so quickly.
-The weather today was supposed to be our hottest day yet, and instead we were so happy to have a beautiful breeze blowing through the work site all day. Again, thanks for praying!
-Pray for safety and a great day of adventure and rest tomorrow.
-Pray for our hearts as we prepare to head into our last day at the home on Friday. It is not easy to say goodbye these kiddos. They have grabbed our hearts and I don't think they will let go.
Thanks again everyone for sending your love our way! We appreciate it so much, and love to know that we have a community back home who is anxiously awaiting our arrival home!
Blessings to all of you! Kristin and some teary team members
